Is this daf good for beginners?
We recommend it for committed beginners rather than absolute beginners. Natural-skin dafs require regular care: before playing, the head usually needs to be warmed gently (e.g. with a hair dryer or near a heat source — never directly on flame) to bring the skin to the right tension. If you are willing to learn this routine, this is a genuine, traditional Kurdish daf you can grow into for many years. If you want a maintenance-free instrument, a synthetic-head daf is a better starting point.

How do I tune / warm the natural skin?
Hold the daf about 20–30 cm from a hair dryer on medium heat and gently move it around the head until the tone tightens and the bass becomes clear and resonant. This usually takes 1–3 minutes. In humid weather you will need to warm it more; in dry weather, less. Never apply direct flame and never overheat the skin.

Does it come with a case?
Yes — every daf ships with a carrying case for safe transport and storage.

How does the natural skin behave with weather?
Natural goat skin reacts to humidity and temperature — this is normal and is what gives the daf its traditional voice. In dry rooms the head sounds brighter and tighter; in humid rooms, deeper and softer. Warming brings the tone back up before each session.
