Long neck saz is the traditional type of bağlama. The long neck saz instrument has a history of thousands of years as its history dates back to kopuz. Saz , the most common use in Turkey is stringed instruments. It is known by different names according to the regions and their sizes. kopuz, cura, saz, çürür, dombra, ikitelli, tanbura, tar, etc. It is played with plectrums or fingers according to the technique used.
Long neck saz is four curtains longer than short neck saz. Because the long neck saz has a longer wire length, the sound of the saz sounds longer. It is wider in terms of sound range and transpose in long neck saz. Long-necked saz body length may vary from 41 to 45 cm and have strings of 0.2mm.
The long neck saz consists of three main parts; boat, chest, handle. The boat part is usually made of mulberry tree. However, in addition to mulberry tree, juniper, chestnut, walnut, hornbeam is also made from trees. The chest is made of spruce and the stem is made of hornbeam, white hornbeam or juniper.
The long neck saz instrument system is called "bozuk" (black order).
