A Door Opens to Art

From a young age, Cahit was deeply interested in art and culture. This passion led him to study Art History at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. Yet, his true artistic journey began during a trip to Istanbul in his university years.

During that visit, he met musicians performing with traditional Turkish instruments — a moment that completely changed his direction. He was no longer content just to listen to the music; he wanted to understand how those instruments were made.

The Journey Begins at Sala Muzik

His curiosity eventually led him to Sala Muzik, a renowned destination for Turkish musical instruments. There, he began working and learning about instruments up close. Over time, the idea of not only playing but creating them started to take root in his heart.

Meeting Master Erdoğan Akpınar

A turning point in Cahit’s life came when he met Erdoğan Akpınar, the master craftsman behind Miras Ouds. When Akpınar visited Sala Muzik, Cahit gathered his courage and told him about his passion for instrument making. He asked, “Would you take me as your apprentice?” — and received a positive answer.

Known for his generosity in sharing knowledge, Akpınar accepted Cahit as his apprentice. This marked the true beginning of his journey toward mastery.

Working in Akpınar’s workshop became more than a job for Cahit — it became a way of life. Observing his master’s precision, craftsmanship, and artistic depth fueled his own passion. He was no longer just a learner; he was an artist devoted to carrying his master’s legacy forward.
