Built by a different workshop (Miras, Istanbul) than our Sağlam-series Turkish kanuns (made in Ankara). The headline feature is the integrated passive pickup: the output jack on the body sends clean signal straight to your destination — no 9V battery, no internal preamp, no powered components. Does the MSK-4 need a battery?
No. Pickup is passive — no 9V battery, no internal preamp, no battery compartment. Just a 1/4" output jack on the body. Plug straight into PA/mixer/amp/interface. For hotter output, use any external preamp pedal or DI box.
Who builds the MSK-4?
Built entirely by the Miras workshop in Istanbul — not Mustafa Sağlam (whose Ankara workshop builds our MK / MKA / MKE series). Different luthiers, distinct workshop signatures.
Why higher priced than the Sağlam line?
Miras and Sağlam are different workshops with different cost structures and production volumes. The MSK-4 also includes the integrated pickup (a comparable retrofit would itself cost $300-500 plus install). Price reflects workshop, electronics, and lower production — not a quality verdict.
Can I record both unplugged + pickup signals?
Yes. Many studio engineers do exactly this: mic the soundboard, take a DI from the pickup, mix both in post for full presence vs. body control.
